1. Why does the poet say, “I would not intrude on him”? Why doesn’t he offer him money to buy another ball?

Ans:- The poet said, “I would not intrude on him” which means the poet does want to interrupt from getting an important lesson related to loss which is an unavoidable part of life. In this poem, Boy loses a ball affects him and leads to unhappiness. He doesn’t offer him money to buy another ball because money cannot buy everything. Attachment with those things is irreplaceable.

2. Do you think the boy has had the ball for a long time? Is it linked to the memories of days when he played with it?

Ans:- Yes, Boy has had the ball for a long time it was used as a symbolization of his Youthful period which was filled with happiness and innocence. Once this period is gone, you cannot get it back. It is linked with memories of days that had childlike flashbacks. He can purchase a new ball but cannot replace a precious memory bank.

3. What does “in the world of possessions” mean?

Ans:- “In the world of possessions” means a world of money-oriented things. These things everybody wants to own are in the form of assets. Frequently, people tend to get attached to things. The ball has joyful memories attached to the ball he loses. Losing this ball it’s anything but something seemingly insignificant but is valuable for boys.

4. Do you think the boy has lost anything earlier? Pick out the words that suggest the Answer.

Ans:- “No, the boy hasn’t lost anything earlier. The words that suggest He senses first responsibility. It is the first time he loses something which a ball and merry memories which the boy is very fond of. His understanding grows about what is to lose something.

Ans:- This is the First time for the boy to lose something. It is a ball. The poet said that in the world of materialist things, another ball can be purchased with money but Joy, associated memories and emotions cannot be brought back at any cost. The nature indicated here is childish and innocent. On recognizing What does losing something mean? Learned to stand up strong despite sadness inside us.

6. Have you ever lost something you liked very much? Write a paragraph describing how you felt then, and saying whether — and how — you got over your loss.

Ans:- Yes, I have lost a pen that I liked very much. It helped me write smoothly on paper. I used that pen to write notes and exams. When I lost it I felt very sad. Memories of writing exams and notes were linked with that pen. Even after searching places where it could be found, I didn’t get it back. Someone explained to me that it was fine you lost the pen but it’s advised to be careful and keep an eye on things.
