Ans:- Yes, I did start to suspect, before the end of the story, that the lady was the person Horace Danby took her to be.
When the lady asked Horace to open the safe for her, which was when I realized it was, to begin with, she was way too calm for being a person facing a thief first hand and then it’s not a common instance for a person to ask for their own safety to be broken by a thief.
2. What are the subtle ways in which the lady manages to deceive Horace Danby into thinking she is the lady of the house? Why doesn’t Horace suspect that something is wrong?
Ans:- First thing was Sherry being beside the lady as if she was her owner while following her command and then when she mentioned her being at the top floor as if she was there from the beginning led Horace into thinking that she is the lady of the house.
Horace being an eventful thief, led to his immaturity in the job and ended him up in not being able to take the hints and suspect that something is wrong.

3. “Horace Danby was good and respectable – but not completely honest”. Why do you think this description is apt for Horace? Why can’t he be categorised as a typical thief?
Ans:- Horace was someone who only stole from those who were rich and had too much to spare and did it once a year only to buy books that were too much expensive for him to buy himself which did make sense the way he was described in the text.
He was a thief but not an experienced one and being a thief really did not seem to be his cup of tea.
4. Horace Danby was a meticulous planner but still he faltered. Where did he go wrong and why?
Ans:- He doubted his own skill in collecting information and which lead him behind bars.
It was a crucial moment when the woman stepped into the scene and he should have known that shouldn’t be anyone but he did not think twice about her being an imposter and ended up regretting it.

Ans:- I think it was unfair for Horace to be punished for a crime he never committed, although he was a thief he did not steal anything.
2. Do intentions justify actions? Would you, like Horace Danby, do something wrong if you thought your ends justified the means? Do you think that there are situations in which it is excusable to act less than honestly?
Ans:- No, intentions shouldn’t justify actions. I wouldn’t do something wrong even if I thought that my ends justified the means, wrong is just wrong hoping for it to be right does not make it right.
It’s excusable to act less honestly, It’s second nature for human beings to lie and sometimes even situations call for it like when somebody is hell-bent on knowing something they shouldn’t then one can lie that they don’t know, there are many situations like these that call for being dishonest, it’s not wrong and shouldn’t be considered wrong as well.
