Think about it (Page 27)
1. What are the two strange things the guru and his disciple find in the kingdom of Fools?
Ans:- The two strange things about the kingdom of fools were their two laws stating that the night will be considered day while the day will be considered night and that everything will be sold for only 1 duddu.
2. Why does the disciple decide to stay in the kingdom of Fools? Is it a good idea?
Ans:- The disciple was fascinated with the everything-at-one-duddu policy of the kingdom and wanted to enjoy the luxuries that the kingdom offered at such low expense.
3. Name all the people who are tried in the king’s court, and give the reasons for their trial.
Ans:- The trial began with the burglar’s brother bringing in a petition to the king and asking for the merchant to be punished for having such a weak wall that it fell on his brother and took his life, then the merchant blamed the bricklayer for constructing such a wall that fell on the burglar while taking his life, then the bricklayer blamed the girl wearing anklets and moving up and down while distracting him leading to constructing such a wall, then the girl, who was an old woman now, blamed the jeweller for making her go up and down while not responding to her request, then the jeweller blamed the rich merchant for making him hurry and not giving him enough time to accept anybody else’s request which made him ignore the girl’s request and made her go up and down which distracted the bricklayer and ended up in him making a weak wall which leads up to the wall falling on the burglar, taking his life.
4. Who is the real culprit according to the king? Why does he escape punishment?
Ans:- The real culprit was the rich merchant who made the jeweller hurry, not giving him enough time to accept anybody else’s request which made him ignore the girl’s request and made her go up and down which distracted the bricklayer and ended up in him making a weak wall which leads up to the wall falling on the burglar, taking his life. The merchant escapes his punishment because the stake was not meant for a thin person and the merchant was too thin to fit the stake.
5. What are the Guru’s words of wisdom? When does the disciple remember them?
Ans:- The disciple remembered the words of his guru explaining that the kingdom in which the disciple wanted to live was a kingdom of fools and it wasn’t right for them to stay there. The disciple remembered this when he heard that he had to die in the place of the merchant as the stake was not for a person having a skinny constitution but for someone with a healthy one which was befitting for the disciple’s physical description at that time.
6. How does the Guru manage to save his disciple’s life?
Ans:- The guru whispered to the foolish emperor that he wanted to die first as the new stake would let the person dying first on it be reborn as the new king of the kingdom and the next one would be reborn as the minister. After hearing this, the king wanted to book his seat as the king of the kingdom when he is reborn and discussed with his minister to follow behind him and after that, they released the guru and his disciple and got themselves staked instead of them saving the disciple.
