Think about it (Page 6)
1. What are the things the child sees on his way to the fair? Why does he lag behind?
Ans:- When the child enters the fair he sees the toys in the shop then he is awe-struck by the beautiful scenery of the golden mustard field, then his attention is grabbed by the insects flying taking him to a sweet shop after that he wanders towards a garland seller then he moves forward towards the balloon seller, then towards the snake-charmer and then it ends up in front of a roundabout which was at its full speed at that time.
The reason behind his getting lost and lagging were his getting distracted by the insects and wandering far away from his parents while playing around.
2. In the fair he wants many things. What are they? Why does he move on without waiting for an answer?
Ans:- First, he asks for toys then but his father silently rejects his request, after wandering away he wants the barfi from the sweetmeat seller but couldn’t have it because he knew that his parents would call him greedy and reject him, then he wanted a beautiful flower garland from the garland shop then he wants a colorful balloon but he knew that his parents would say that they were too cheap while rejecting him so he moved on, and then he wanted to hear the snake-charmer but he was told not to hear such music leading him to move on and at the end, he wanted to ride the roundabout which was at its full swing at that time and although he asked diligently, his parents were there to listen to his request and he ended not even riding the roundabout.
3. When does he realise that he lost his way? How have his anxiety and insecurity been described?
Ans:- When he couldn’t control himself from the temptation of the roundabout ride and diligently asked for a chance to ride it but only ended up receiving no reply due to the absence of his parents and they were nowhere to be found, that was when he realized that he had lost his way.
In the text his anxiety and insecurity are described as him ‘crying in real fear’ and his ‘Tears rolled down from his eyes, hot and fierce; his flushed face was convulsed with fear. Panic-stricken, he ran to one side first, then to the other, hither and thither in all directions, knowing not where to go.’
4. Why does the lost child lose interest in the things that he had wanted earlier?
Ans:- The child became scared and wanted his parents more than anything in the world. He thought that he wouldn’t be able to meet his loving parent which frightened him with no end, this anxiousness was not something that could’ve been cured by any worldly desires.
5. What do you think happens in the end? Does the child find his parents?
Ans:- I think he would’ve found his parents as he was already closer to them when the man took him to the sweetmeat seller and his parents must be searching for him as well so, there is no way for him to be lost for good.

How to ensure not to get lost.
The best way to not get lost is to stay alert about your surroundings and not go too far away from the people you have come with, this is especially applicable to someone who is visiting a place for the first time and not knowing his way around the place. Nowadays, we have smartphones and even lost-and-found centers at crowded places like train stations and fairs for someone or something that may’ve been lost but to be safe one should be aware of where he is going.
